Apple Pie for Humble Day
"Practice humbleness today and everyday, it will serve you well in life."The sky is gloomy. The cloud is dark. The sun hides behind the cloud. Rain is forecasted for some cities in West Java. And here it is.....Subang District is poured by heavy rain. The weather forecast says that heavy rain will continue from 13 - 20 November 2016.
Though the day is rather quiet, dark and gloomy, but don't let your heart gloomy. There's nothing to be boastful, be humble just like the day today. Let's make apple pie to fill your day.
I adapt (and make a little bit modification) the recipe from http://allrecipes.com/recipe/12377/grandma-oples-apple-pie/.
Here is how I make it.
Ingredients:
- 2 recipes shortcut pastry
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Shortcut pastry:

Mix 125 gr butter and 1 1/2 cup flour by using fork.

Add 2 yolks.

Round the dough and then put it in the freezer.
Steps:
1. Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste.
Add white sugar, brown sugar and water, bring to boil.
Reduce temperature and simmer 5 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, place the bottom crust or shortcut pastry in your pan.
Fill with apples, mounded slightly.
Cover with a crust gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust.
Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
3. Bake 15 minutes at 220ºC.
Reduce the temperature to 175ºC and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes.
While you are baking the cake, you can do a little exercise, practicing yoga or dancing.
Lalala....
Serve it with a cup of hot tea. mmmm....yummy....
What a perfect rainy afternoon!
