PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS OF SUBANG GO GLOBAL!
The primary school students of Subang have performed 'wassai' dance in the biggest online festival in the world - TOKYO 2020 NIPPON FESTIVAL. A special festival held in the amidst of pandemic Covid-19 is a cultural programme promoting global peace, human solidarity, and cooperation. It is launched as a core part of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2021.
The wassai performance was held yesterday, the 18th July 2021, at 18.00 p.m Japan Standard Time or 16.00 p.m Jakarta Time. The wassai aims to unite the world by making a big "WA" by singing and dancing together in a circle online, while providing people with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience of Japanese culture and enjoy new encounters. "WA" means Circle and Peace in Japanese. The performance broadcasted live from the Olympic Stadium throughout the world through the Tokyo 2021 Organising Committee's official SNS accounts via Youtube live streaming https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey6EY-iOKmg.
We would like to say our gratitude to Ms. Atsuko Shiwaku (President of JAPAN ART MILE Foundation) who has given a chance to the primary school students of Subang to participate in the wassai dance festival provided by the Tokyo 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Organising Committee.

The students who are wearing national costume performed the wassai dance together in a big room accompanied by their principals, teachers, and parents. You can see the students' performance below.
The wassai performance seemed more sophisticated when we were watching it from our handphone, laptop, or computer. As an art teacher said in her testimony below.
The Wassai performance joined in the "Rayakan Merdekamu" Video Competition as a celebration for the 76th of Indonesia Independence Day with the theme Kebinekaan Global. The video can be seen in the link https://youtu.be/6Wr1MYkdSxk.
