THE REGENT'S SCRATCHES ON THE MURAL PAINTING

OF SUBANG AND JAPANESE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

In the amidst of Omicron virus pandemic, the elementary school students from Subang Indonesia and Japan participated in the program of Japan Art Mile International Collaborative Learning to paint the mural painting. The elementary school students from Subang Regency painted the mural on February 10, 2022 in Subang Regent's Office House (Rumah Dinas Bupati Subang). This mural painting event was attended by the Regent of Subang, the Head of Education and Culture Department of Subang and his staffs, the principals, the teachers, the students' parents, the nine elementary school students, and some invited guests.

Before painting the mural, the students should have had a zoom meeting to discuss the mural themes. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the discussion could be implemented through Japan Art Mile Forum. The zoom meeting was held on December 15, 2021, after the Une Elementary School students painted a half of mural.

The themes of mural derive from the 17 SDGs UN (Sustainable Development Goals, United Nations). The themes are SDG number 4 Quality Education, number 14 Life below Water, and number 15 Life on Land.

The students convey the messages of the three themes above on the mural. The messages are that people should take care of the environment where we live, do not harm and pollute our environment because it will impact to our live, and how we solve the problems regarding the pollution in order to make a better life for the future.

Regarding the importance of the mural themes, H. Ruhimat (the Regent of Subang) really supports the program of Japan Art Mile International Collaborative Learning. He says special thanks to Ms. Atsuko Shiwaku who has a brilliant idea to connect the elementary school students from Subang Indonesia and the Une Elementary School students from Japan through a mural painting that is painted together. He also thanks to Ms. Hasnah Gasim (UNESCO ASPnet, Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO, Kemdikbudristek) who has given a chance to the students to collaborate in this program.

Furthermore, H Ruhimat also thanks to all participants joined in this program: Tim Kreatif Jawara, the Principals, the Class teachers or tutors, the students' parents, and the students as well.

Tatang Komara, as well as H. Ruhimat, says that the Artmile International Collaborative Learning (AICL) 2022 Program is really meaningful and beneficial for students to do. This project is under the authority of KNIU (Komisi Nasional Indonesia untuk UNESCO or Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and UNESCO ASPnet Indonesia. This AICL 2022 is endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and cooperated by Japan International Cooperation Agency.

After painting a half of the mural painting, the Une Elementary School students and their teacher Mr. Daisuke Kogaito sent the mural to Subang to be painted by the elementary school students. The students from Une Elementary School are as follows:

After receiving a half painted mural, the students from Subang painted another half of mural. The first scratching on the mural was scratched by the Regent of Subang and the Head of Education and Culture Department of Subang.

After completing the mural, a student named Aldebaran Dhiya Dzakwaan explained the message conveyed in the mural to the audiences. The mural consists of cultural diversity and biodiversity in Subang, and the students' hopes that the COVID-19 pandemic will end in order to be able to go to school to get quality education.
